Acupuncture for Pain Management
Many of Acupuncture Sanctuary’s clients find us seeking pain management; if you’ve read our main page on Acupuncture as a whole you’ll see that we touched on a brief explanation there.
Chronic pain can significantly impact your quality of life, leaving you feeling frustrated, exhausted, and limited in your daily activities. At Acupuncture Sanctuary, we specialise in supporting individuals with chronic pain, combining ancient practices with modern knowledge and personal lived experience to create personalised treatments for all of our patients.
Acupuncture is a natural and effective method for managing pain by addressing its root causes, rather than merely masking symptoms. Pain often arises from poor circulation, inflammation, or tension in the muscles, tendons, or nerves. It’s also important to acknowledge and address mental/emotional mechanisms. By stimulating specific acupuncture points, we improve blood flow, release tension, calm the mental and emotional processes, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes..
Common Conditions We Treat
Many of our clients experience relief from conditions such as:
Back and neck pain
Shoulder and arm pain, including frozen shoulder
Joint pain (knees, hips, hands)
Headaches and Migraines
Sciatica and nerve pain
Post-surgical or injury-related pain
Chronic conditions like fibromyalgia and arthritis
In addition to acupuncture, we may incorporate complementary therapies such as cupping, gua sha, and moxibustion to enhance the results. Dietary advice, herbal medicine, and lifestyle adjustments are also part of our holistic approach to long-term pain management.
How Acupuncture Works for Pain Relief
Unblocking Qi: Pain often stems from blocked energy pathways. Stimulating specific acupuncture points clears these blockages, easing pain.
Balancing Yin and Yang: Pain can result from an imbalance of these dual forces. Acupuncture restores harmony, supporting overall health.
Enhancing Circulation: Improved blood flow nourishes tissues, reduces inflammation, and removes waste products, contributing to pain relief.
Calming the Nervous System: Acupuncture helps soothe the spirit (Shen) and reduce stress, lowering pain perception.
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, acupuncture is a holistic practice that helps balance the flow of energy, or Qi, in the body. Pain often results from stagnant or blocked Qi, which acupuncture works to unblock, restoring harmony and promoting healing. This approach addresses the root causes of pain rather than merely masking symptoms.
What sets us apart is our commitment to understanding your unique experience of pain. We take the time to listen and tailor each session to your specific needs. Our goal is not only to reduce your pain but also to support your overall well-being, so you can move freely and live the life you love.
If you’re tired of living with pain, we’re here to help. Book an appointment today and take the first step toward lasting relief.

Located on the foot, this point helps to relieve pain and tension, particularly in the lower body.
-
Located on the leg, this point is used for general pain relief and to boost overall energy and immune function.
-
Located on the lower leg, this point is used for a wide range of pain conditions, including abdominal pain and menstrual cramps.
-
